Tevis Energy was established in 1932 by Stanley H. Tevis in Westminster, Maryland, and has since built a legacy of service that prioritizes the comfort and safety of families across Maryland and Pennsylvania. The company specializes in residential propane, heating oil, and commercial fueling services, proudly serving thousands of customers. With a strong commitment to community support, Tevis Energy also offers emergency response services nationwide to assist those affected by natural disasters.
The family-owned culture of Tevis Energy sets it apart, nurturing a reputation for delivering high-quality products and services while keeping customer needs at the forefront. In addition to its fuel services, Tevis Energy operates a full-service HVAC and plumbing division, known as Modern Comfort, ensuring that every aspect of home comfort is addressed year-round.
The company’s history is as rich as its commitment to service. Dorothy Tevis, who graduated from Western Maryland College in 1935 with a degree in home economics, played a significant role in the family business legacy. After marrying Stanley H. Tevis, Jr., she demonstrated her innovative spirit and earned the admiration of her son, Jack. When Stanley passed away in 1974, Dorothy showed remarkable resilience. Instead of selling the business, she chose to hold onto it for Jack, serving as chairwoman of the board until he was ready to lead.
Jack Tevis carried on the family legacy for an astounding 51 years before entering retirement. In early 2024, Jack passed the torch and title of President / CEO to his only daughter, Tory Tevis. Under Tory’s leadership, the Tevis companies continue to thrive, embodying the values instilled by both Stanley and Dorothy. This enduring commitment to family, community, and service is at the heart of what Tevis Energy represents today.
