At the June 1-2 conference of Women in Energy, one of the highlights was the awarding of our 2021 Woman of the Year. Annually we recognize one woman who has contributed to the energy industry and this year’s award went to Joyce Porto,
This year we received some amazing applications. It just shows how many talented and accomplished women women who are working in the Energy Industry. It was difficult selecting our 2021 winner.
This year the award was presented to a woman who began her career in the energy industry over 40 years ago while working as a teen for Wyatt Energy in New Haven, CT.
Joyce Porto, our 2021 winner, later joined Inland Fuel as a part of the Santa Energy family, Bridgeport, CT, where she has been ever since. Her acute knowledge of the energy market – from product specifics to hedging inventories and futures – gained her the respect of her Santa team. She worked her way up to become the 1st woman President of a Santa Energy division when promoted to that position at Inland Fuel Terminals in 2010.
In 2014, CT Energy Marketer’s Association awarded Joyce the highest honor of Associate of the Year.
From the application submitted we learned that Joyce is known to be a bright beacon of dedication and accomplishment. Ever modest, she shuns the spotlight – avoiding attention all the while. To those who know her, she is an incomparable role model of success for both men and women throughout the energy industry.
On behalf of Women in Energy – Congratulations Joyce!
