Gas and Electric Utility Provider
Overview
Provides engineering and technical support, oversight and direction for Louisville Electric Distribution Operations (EDO) related to system reliability and company construction standards.
Position will be filled at the appropriate level based on the qualified candidate’s education, experience, and skill level.
Responsibilities
• Identifies opportunities for improvement on the Distribution System and suggests improved methods of system reliability. Gathers, correlates and analyzes specific data using established procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers (both industrial and residential) to resolve power quality issues. Ability to compile large amounts of data and consolidate in a presentable manner to customers, then coordinate with design and construction crews to get the job(s) completed.
• Performs detailed and/or routine engineering assignments involving established calculations, tests, and analysis. Engineering assignments are broad in nature and incumbent will have the latitude of and the responsibility for unreviewed actions or decisions.
• Assigns tasks to technicians and/or construction crews to apply improved methods and monitor circuits to ensure improved reliability.
• Supports operating and maintenance functions with problem identification, engineering analysis, and problem resolution activities.
• Verify and present electric construction designs, requiring analysis and development of recommendations for related electrical system, electric service, and/or engineering activities, from project inception to completion.
• Assists other engineers and/or work groups with projects as needed.
• Assists with the development of goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures.
• Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free work place.
• Creates and presents new or updated information concerning installation of equipment, structures and devices needed to comply with construction standards and safety.
• Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Directs the activities of coops, exempt, non-exempt, bargaining unit, and other personnel as they perform various activities including equipment installation and checkout, troubleshooting, testing, coordination, etc.
•Complies with all policies, standards, environmental rules and regulations, and best practices & performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education Requirement
ABET Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to use formal engineering training in practical application to utility design assignments.
