Women in Energy, like so many other groups had to move events to a virtual setting. With our Mentorship Program still in the early stages we wanted to keep the momentum going with a special presentation. At our special Virtual Event held July 22nd, we recognized our 2020 Mentorship Winners – and hosted a panel discussion, “Pathways to Success: Career Opportunities with the Energy Industry”.
Our 2020 winners are: Sutton Woolley, Woolley Home Solutions, Maplewood, NJ and Lauren Brown, Anchor Fuel, Middletown, RI. These young women along with the 2021 winners will be formally recognized at next year’s event to be held at Harrahs Resort, Atlantic City, May 23 & 24th. The winners receive a complimentary membership to Women in Energy, their convention fees including the hotel expense and an opportunity to network with our members.
The Mentorship Program was founded to introduce young women to the many opportunities within the Energy Industry. Bobbi Hill, W.B. Hill Co., Industry Outreach Chair, explained, “This program was launched in 2019, with the recognition of three young women. This year we hope to develop plans to help schools introduce our industry to young students. We will have a couple of webinars to build on some great ideas that were generated during our panel discussion.”
Liz Hill, Primedia, Mentorship Co-Chair, commented, “Last year I enjoyed introducing one of the winners to the many vendors that participated in the EEE trade show and that is a wonderful opportunity for a young person.”
